Our Reds
Saumur: this appellation has been produced for centuries. The tuffeau rock is characteristic of the area. Cellars dug into this rock are also used to store barrels and age the wine.
Saumur red, made from Cabernet Franc, is light, fresh and fruity. Saumur Champigny is situated on very chalky soils, making it a more powerful, spicy wine.
Anjou, Anjou-Villages, Brissac: Anjou produces Cabernet Franc-based red wines that are lively and light.
Anjou Village Brissac is a fuller-bodied wine, with supple tannins.
Touraine is home to numerous terroirs on a variety of soils (limestone, clay, gravel). Many red varieties are grown (cabernet franc, cabernet sauvignon, côt, pinot noir, gamay, grolleau, pineau d’Aunis), producing light, fresh wines with typical red fruit aromas.
Chinon: this appellation uses Cabernet Franc to produce fleshy, fruity red wines from limestone soils, or fresher, lighter wines from terroirs close to the Loire.
Bourgueil and Saint-Nicolas-de-Bourgueil: Cabernet franc also dominates here, producing fragrant, fairly concentrated wines with cherry, strawberry and raspberry aromas and supple tannins.
Cheverny: From clay-limestone or siliceous soils, red Cheverny is a light, fin and elegant wine. It’s the perfect blend of Pinot Noir, for its finesse and subtlety, and Gamay, for its freshness and roundness.
